These black Castañer Jean flat gingham beribboned espadrilles are (like all good espadrilles) made in Spain and feature ties at the ankle, an almond toe, and a woven ribbon upper. According to a thorough search of the internet, the word "gingham" appears to derive from the Malaysian word "genggang" meaning "striped" and adopted by the Dutch. Personally, we'd rather we still used the Malaysian word so we could say these Castañer shoes were Genggang Style.
